For brokerage positions there is a requirement for the following:
University Graduate.
No more than 3 jobs in 7 years (may not be applicable).
Previous brokerage, sales or trading experience required, ideally in a related market.
Primary Function Indicators (PFI’s) of success in commodity broking include the following:
An ease about phoning strangers and engaging in and leading conversation.
An ability to develop trust quickly with people.
A methodical approach to assertively pushing sales along a process.
A willingness and ability to learn new products and markets.
Strong “Corporate literacy”, being able to use new technology, following rules and acting as part of a team.
Above all to apply the knowledge one obtains to specific situations to extract value.
